Are there optimal levels of daily carbohydrate and cholesterol intake for someone with Type 2 Diabetes?

The American Heart Association recommends consuming less than 300mg per day of cholesterol if you have Diabetes.  People with increased risk factors such as heart disease should limit their intake to 200mg per day. Carbohydrate consumption should be limited to 3-4 servings of carbohydrate per meal and 1-2 servings of carbohydrate per snack.  One serving equals 15 grams.  It is best to choose carbohydrates in the form of whole grains, fruit, vegetables, and low-fat milk because they provide vitamins, minerals, and fiber in addition to sugar.
