How often should I monitor my blood glucose levels?

The frequency of monitoring blood glucose levels is individualized and dependent on various factors such as your treatment goals, medication changes, and your motivational level.

In order to help your healthcare provider make well-informed treatment decisions it would be of use to monitor your blood glucose levels for a period of 2-4 consecutive days and record them in a diary. You should try to obtain a variety of levels include fasting levels, glucose readings prior to meals, and post meals as well. These levels should be recorded in a diary.
