Diabetes runs in my family. Is there anything I can do to prevent getting Diabetes?

The good news is that you can take steps to lower your chances of getting Diabetes.  One large study, called the Diabetes Prevention Program, showed that you can lower your risk of Diabetes by 58% by making lifestyle changes (ie, healthier eating, weight loss, and physical activity).  This same study showed that participants who were given a biguanides, along with information about healthy eating and physical activity, lowered their risk of Diabetes by 31%.  Making lifestyle changes along with controlling other risk factors, such as blood pressure, LDL, and triglycerides, will also reduce your risk of heart disease.  Here are steps you can take to lower your Diabetes risk:
